Viren Popli, senior vice-president and head, mobile entertainment division, STAR India, has resigned from the organisation and is currently serving his notice period.
Popli confirmed his move, saying, “I will stay in the media industry. I will join a traditional media company where I will look after various divisions including the mobile function.” However, he would not divulge any further details about his movement.
Sources close to the development have revealed that Anand Raman, vice-president, mobile entertainment, will replace Popli at STAR India.
Popli joined Ranbaxy Laboratories in 1994 as market executive and worked there for six years before joining STAR India in 2000. At STAR, he has worked across various divisions ranging from programming and distribution to handling international operations.
