Amar Chitra Katha (ACK) Media, have decided to take their famous cartoon character, Suppandi, on the silver screen. The media house plans to release their stereoscopic three-dimensional animation film in November 2010 in 100 odd 3-D cinema halls other than the regular theatres.
Mumbai’s Fable Farm Studios that recently sold 50-per-cent stake to ACK last month has been working on this project for over a year with a starting budget of about Rs 10 crore. Elaborating more on the budget, Samir Patil, chief executive officer, ACK Media said, “The budget is not fixed yet. Our main innovation is that we can do 3-D stereographic films at budgets starting Rs 10 crore. This is a breakthrough. Investment varies depending on the script, number of situations and characters, etc. The highlight is that for the first time, such a film is being made with an indigenously developed technology.”
Patil refused to shell out more details on the characters and the person doing the voiceover for Suppandi’s character, saying, “We are keeping all those details undisclosed at this point and some things have not been decided yet, too.
