Exchange4Media: Senior Vice President – Ad Sales at Galatta.com, S Balasubramanian has decided to switch to Dinamalar, one of the leading Tamil dailies, as Head of Marketing, New Media.
Balasubramanian started his career in 1997as an executive with Tamil daily Dinakaran in 1997 and was with the company for almost eight years. After his long stint with Dinakaran, he then took up the position of Senior Vice President – Ad Sales at Galatta.com and Galatta Cinema magazine, a Dot Com Infoway Ltd media initiative. At Galatta, his responsibilities included generation of revenue for Galatta.com and Galatta Cinema magazine through ads, online content and mobile content and circulation of Galatta Cinema. He also formulated strategies for the ad sales team and looked into the distribution of the magazine
Talking about his new job profile, Balasubramanian said, “My responsibilities in Dinamalar include using methodologies and tools to make the website more popular. We have some good numbers, and those numbers are not realistically shown to the advertisers or even to the public. Therefore, my responsibility here would be creating some kind of foundation, wherein things are in place and our numbers are well exhibited so that we would able to generate revenue to our potential.”
Dinamar.com claims to have around 8 million visitors per month of which 38-40 per cent are from India while the rest are mainly NRIs settled in the US, the Middle East, Australia, Singapore and the UK.
Dinamalar.com also claims that its mobile application for downloading news is being used by 94,000 customers and generates 5 million pages views every month.
