The Radio Audience Measurement (RAM) data for Week 1 of 2009 is out. Radio Mirchi is the clear market leader in Kolkata and Delhi, and Big FM in Bengaluru.
In Mumbai, Red FM is ahead of the rest but by so small a margin that it is difficult to call it ‘the’ market leader.
Mumbai
Red FM has moved to the top in Mumbai with a share of 16.6 per cent, although its market share has dropped by 0.6 percentage points. There is a difference of just 0.1 percentage point between the top two players. Big FM has also moved up a spot, gaining 0.8 percentage points over the previous week. Radio City has slipped two spots and is now tying for third position with Radio Mirchi; both have a market share of 15.3 per cent.
AIR FM Gold is in the fifth spot with a 10.9 per cent share; an increase of 1.5 percentage points. Next is Fever FM, which has an 8.1 per cent market share (up by one percentage point).
Delhi
Radio Mirchi is the leader here, with a market share of 24.6 per cent in Week 1; a decrease of 1.2 percentage points from the previous week. AIR FM Gold continues in second place with a market share of 14 per cent; a decrease of 2.3 percentage points.
Radio City has gained 1.4 percentage points and now has an 11 per cent share, moving up a position. Red FM has risen from No. 6 to No. 4: It has a share of 10.9 per cent, up by 3.5 percentage points. Fever FM, on the other hand, has slipped two positions. It now has a share of 9.8 per cent; a drop of 1.4 percentage points.
Kolkata
There was no change in the top positions in Week 1. With its share decreasing from 22.1 per cent in the previous week to 20.3 per cent now, Radio Mirchi continued to be the No. 1.
Big FM maintained its No. 2 position, with a market share of 19.8 per cent, an increase of 0.7 percentage points. Friends FM also held onto the number three spot, with a share of 14.8 per cent – a rise of 1.5 percentage points from the previous week.
Fever FM is No. 4 this week, with an 8.9 per cent share; a decrease of 0.4 percentage points. Amaar FM is the No. 5, with a market share of 8.4 per cent, down by 0.4 percentage points.
Bengaluru
Big FM is the leader here, with a 25.4 per cent share; an increase of 0.4 percentage points from the previous week. Radio Mirchi continues in the second spot, with a 19.5 per cent share (a fall of 1.7 percentage points).
S FM has moved up to places into third position with a market share of 11.2 per cent; an increase of 2.6 percentage points. AIR FM Rainbow now holds a 9.4 per cent market share and has slippe a position. Also moving down one position is Radio One, which ended the week with a share of 8.3 per cent; a decrease of 0.5 percentage points.
