Blank for 30 minutes! Yes, that’s what is going to happen to Nickelodeon this Saturday. Wonder why? Because Sponge Bob Square Pants, Ninja Hattori and Dora are coming all the way from Nick to schools and playgrounds to encourage their little friends to spend some time outdoors.
Nickelodeon is initiating a six week ‘Lets just Play’ programme to reach out to 8 million children across various cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore and Hyderabad. This Play-a-thon event would last for about 10 hours.
Nina Elavia Jaipuria, VP & GM of Nick India who is all upbeat about this, claims that 40,000 kids are expected to participate in this offline activity. The play-a-thon would involve thousands of kids playing tele-games and catching up with their favourite Nicktoons. It would also include inter-school sports events and high energy games followed by a grand finale that would be scheduled after school hours.
Nick is working towards involving kids from non-metros by driving its viewers to create their own videos, games and upload them on Nick’s digital platform, www.nickindia.com
Nick also intends on telecasting the Play-a-thon event in the next 3 months to relive the moments and also is working towards involving more cities in the next year.
