Manjiri Kamat the managing director of mediaedge: cia Malaysia will soon be given the term of office to lead the Mumbai and Bengaluru operations of the company in India as General Manager.
Manjiri will be reporting to T Gangadhar, managing director, mediaedge:cia, India. She will be taking the charge from May 4th 2009.
Manjiri has been leading the Malaysia operations for the last three years and she has also worked for various WPP agencies in the last 17 years. In the year 2001, Kamat moved to Mindshare as head, business strategy and then to Maxus as general manager.
The reason behind coming back to India according to her is purely a personal decisions, Kamat was quoted as saying,”I enjoyed the international stint of 3 years but have been missing home. Also, India is booming, it is where media is most dynamic,”
Kamat changed MEC Malaysia from a traditional media agency to a 360 degree agency handling communications, planning and implementation and this changeover by her was highly credited.
During Kamat’ spell at WPP agencies; she worked on brands such as DeBeers, Kodak, Hutch, Tata Sky and Mercedes-Benz. In her all new task allotted for now, she will keep an eye on work for clients such as Nivea, Chanel, Citi, Pidilite, Tata AIG General Insurance, HDFC Standard Life Insurance, DHL, Singapore Airlines, Accenture and Novertis.
Her task at hand will be to handle business operations for both Mumbai and Bengaluru offices; quality control client relationships; spearhead new business development and ensure deliverance of the integrated MEC communications planning product.
According to Gangadhar managing director, mediaedge:cia India, Kamat have a complete understanding of GroupM and MEC processes which will be fruitful and is a huge advantage for India and he welcomes her home after a successful period of handling various operations out there in Malaysia.
