Afaqs:Linked – In the portal designed for professionals has roped in Sandeep Suvarna as the head, marketing for Indian market.
Speaking to afaqs! Suvarna confirms his appointment; but he declined to comment further on his responsibilities and plans at Linkedin.com.
Prior to this, Suvarna was with ad network, Networkplay.in as assistant vice-president, sales and strategy. Networkplay.in, backed by Goosefish Media Ventures and Capital 18, handles ad sales for Linkedin.com India.
Suvarna is an engineer and has more than five years of work experience. Of that, he spent more than three years with Yahoo! as marketing manager. He was also a part of MySpace (India); and also had a one-year stint with interactive agency, Tribal DDB, as online media planner and buyer.
This appointment comes as second top-level appointment by Linkedin, after it began operations in India last year. In November 2009, Linkedin had appointed Hari V Krishnan as the country manager for India. Krishnan and Suvarna have worked together in the past for a social networking site, MySpace.com (India).
Linkedin.com has recently announced that it has 5 million registered users in India.
