Ketaki Gupte, who is managing director, Mumbai, and senior client partner at Korn/Ferry, has decided to leave to start her own venture.
Speaking about her plans, Gupte says she first wants to take a break for a couple of months. Then, she says, “I want to start something of my own in the consulting space, but right now, I haven’t finalised anything”.
Gupte joined Korn/Ferry in 2001 and was looking after placements in the consumer practices segment for India, which included recruitment for the FMCG, retail, travel and advertising and media sectors. Before joining Korn/Ferry, Gupte was with JWT for twenty-two years, from 1979 to 2001, starting as a trainee and finally becoming the national media head for South Asia there.
Although Gupte moved from media to placements, she explains that there were similarities in that they are service-driven businesses, where clients and agencies need to be catered to. Since she was responsible for the advertising and media space at Korn/Ferry, her prior experience in that segment helped her.
