T Gangadhar, senior vice-president, marketing, SET Max, has moved to Mediaedge:cia (MEC) as managing director. He took charge at MEC on August 14. Gangadhar will report to Shubha George, managing director, MEC India. George is expected to take on a bigger role soon within the GroupM umbrella.
Earlier Gangadhar worked with ad agencies such as Mudra and Lowe. He says, “I don’t have a media planning background, so it helps me to have a holistic perspective on brands.” While largely, his mandate is to drive growth for MEC India, he hopes to provide media solutions that go beyond the traditional CPRPs (cost per rating point) and cater to the overall requirements of the brand.
Gangadhar has handled clients such as Unilever India, Titan Industries, Britannia India and other FMCG brands during his advertising days. At SET Max, he spearheaded campaigns such as Come Play and the recent Manoranjan ka Baap for the Indian Premier League.
He believes that his stint at SET Max will help him understand the client better. “Having been on the client’s side, I know what the requirements and expectations are,” he adds. Gangadhar will be responsible for MEC’s business development and delivery of communications planning through diversified services.
