BV Rao resigns as Group Editor, Zee News

BV Rao has resigned as Group Editor at Zee News, where he has been working since March this year. At Zee, he was looking after Zee Business, Zee Online and Zee 24 Ghante Taas, as well as Zee News.

Barun Das, CEO, Zee News, confirmed the news, “We wish Venkat all the best for his future endeavour. We will soon announce his successor.”

Rao explained the reasons for his move, “My mandate was to change the face of the channel (Zee News) and take it on the path of news, which we did very successfully. I’ve spent two-and-a-half decades in the profession. I’m now sitting back, taking a break, and evaluating what to do next.”

Before joining Zee, Rao was Senior Executive Editor of Star News. He has also worked for The Times of India as Deputy Resident Editor for around a year, for India Today Group for three years, and DNA Mumbai for a year as Associate Editor.
