The Remmy awards were instituted three years ago by Times Ascent to recognise the best work in recruitment communication. At that time, the awards were called the Pink Slip Awards.
The awards for 2008 were presented at a ceremony held at Grand Hyatt, Santacruz, on March 26, 2009.
The entries were divided into two broad categories: industry and function. The industry category was subdivided into BPO, IT & Telecom, Manufacturing, Engineering and Construction, Banking, Finance and Insurance, and Services. Only Sales and Marketing were included in the function category.
Other awards included Best Copy, Best Art Direction, Best Recruitment Campaign and the Grand Prix.
Bates 141 won the Best Recruitment Campaign and the Grand Prix for Marico Corporate (entered in the Manufacturing, Engineering and Construction subcategory).
The winners of the other categories were as follows: RK Swamy BBDO (BPO); Alok Nanda Communications (IT and Telecom, Best Art Direction); Strings Advertising and Leo Burnett (joint winners – Banking, Finance and Insurance); Mindset JWT (Services, Sales and Marketing); and Bates India and Alok Nanda Communications (joint winners – Best Copy).
