Afaqs: Amit Adarkar, managing director, India and Middle East operations, Market Probe has joined Nielsen BASES as vice-president. His new job will see him operate from Mumbai and report to Prasun Basu, vice-president, Nielsen BASES, South Asia, Middle East and Africa and executive director, consumer research, South Asia, The Nielsen Company.
Adarkar boasts of 17 years experience in research having worked for FMCG, services and high-end manufacturing industries. He has also headed the Mumbai office of Synovate and served as a regional client service lead for Unilever and Coke.
Talking about the switch he says, “It is the best time to be in India, managing my current profile at Nielsen BASES. The dynamism in the industry is exciting and inviting with its myriad challenges. It feels great to be back.”
Basu expressed a lot of faith in Adarkar’s abilities to handle this role saying, “Amit has proven his leadership skills time and again in successfully growing clients, businesses and organisations. With Amit’s astute understanding of the FMCG consumer space, a thorough handling of client’s business and marketing challenges and his outstanding people leadership skills, we hope to see him achieve great success for Nielsen.”
