From now on you will be asked to pay up if you wish to read Murdoch’s newspaper content, as he has decided to pull out the content from Google.
Murdoch in his interview with Sky news Australia has accused Google, Microsoft and Ask.com of being “content kleptomaniacs”. He also confirmed his decision to pull his newspaper off Google searches as he would be charging people for viewing his content.
The media mogul further commented that, “There is not enough advertising in the world to go around and make all the websites profitable.”
He also said that, “We’d rather have fewer people come to the website and pay. Consumers shouldn’t have had free news all the time – I think we’ve been asleep. It costs us a lot of money to put together good newspapers and good content. No news websites anywhere in the world are making large amounts of money.”
Murdoch added that those who have not subscribed to the wall street journal could access it on its mobile site by paying a sum of US$2 a week, whereas those who have subscribed to it would have to pay a sum of $1 per week.
