Rohit Misra, president, Rediffusion Y&R, India and Sri Lanka, after a short spell of precisely six months, has decided to part ways with the agency. He is serving his notice period at Rediffusion.
Earlier, in February, Misra had moved to India from Sri Lanka, assuming the role of the agency’s president in the two regions to fill in the position left vacant by Mahesh Chauhan, who was promoted as group CEO. In Sri Lanka, Misra was functioning as the CEO for Rediffusion. He took up the position in 2008 to partner the launch of Airtel in that market.
Reacting on the news, Misra said that that he is contemplating offers on his next move, and definitely plans on remaining in India and in advertising. On his rather short stint at the agency, Misra explains, “I am moving on for personal reasons. While Rediffusion is a fantastic organisation where I have experienced team spirit, talent and fantastic clients, the agency was moving in a direction different from where I wished to see it go.”
Misra has been in the advertising industry for close to 20 years and has handled various markets of the subcontinent and West Asia. Earlier, he has worked with Euro RSCG Worldwide as regional VP, Middle East. He was also a founding member, shareholder and member of the management committee of Euro RSCG when the group began its operations in India in 1996. He set up and managed the New Delhi office of the company.
Misra began his career in India in 1989 with Ogilvy & Mather Direct, working on direct marketing strategy and implementation for clients such as American Express, Xerox, British Airways and ITC hotels.
He has also served as a mentor in the HH Mohammed Bin Rashid Programme for Leadership Development, an initiative designed to identify and fast track the next generation of leaders in Dubai.
