McCann Erickson has won the creative mandates for London Olympics which will be held in 2012. The agency won the account from the incumbent agency Chime Communications, which held a one-year contract.
Erikson bagged the creative duties following a pitch against the WPP group. The task of promoting the London Olympics, probably the biggest assignment in the history of UK marketing, has been awarded to a US-owned agency over a British counterpart.
Further, the agency will be responsible for advertising, promotion, public relations and digital communications over the next three and a half years.
Additionally, McCann Erickson will pay around £10 million in services-in-kind in return to become an official sponsor of the Games.
