Robin Carruthers, CEO of Clear Channel, has finally confirmed that he has put in his papers and is serving his notice period. April 30 will be his last day at the OOH media major.
Carruthers was promoted to the post of CEO in September 2008, around the same time that Adille Sumariwalla, Clear Channel India’s chairman and MD had resigned, with the intention of taking a break to pursue other interests.
While speaking about his decision to quit, Carruthers said, “It’s more of a personal decision to move on and has nothing to do with Clear Channel.” About his next move, he says, “I’m looking at a few things and would like to discuss this a little later. But it would be OOH again, not very different from what I’m doing now.”
Carruthers joined Clear Channel in 2005 as national head of sales and moved on to the post of COO, before being appointed the CEO. He started his 13-year career at Grey Worldwide (then known as Trikaya Grey) in 1996 as a media planner. He has worked with various outdoor specialist agencies, starting with Primesite, and then moving on to MOMS, OAP and RMG David, before joining Clear Channel India.
