Prosenjit Datta has been appointed the editor of Businessworld, the business weekly published by media company Ananda Bazar Patrika (ABP), with immediate effect.
Prior to his appointment, Datta was heading the editorial function of ABP web and telecom digital.
Datta success Jehangir Pocha, who quit the company a few days ago. Datta commented, “For the short run, I will continue to head the editorial function of ABP Digital, the Web and telecom part of the business,” but said that it was too early to talk about future plans.
Datta started his career as a journalist and spent almost seven years at Business Standard where he was the features editor with overall responsibility for all the sections by the time he quit in 1997.
Datta then worked for Reliance before switching back to journalism by joining Businessworld as senior editor in 1999. In 2000 he became the executive editor. He handled Businessworld editorial operations until February 2007.
