Roby Abraham is new CEO of Excel Home Videos

Excel Home Videos, India’s leading Home Entertainment Company, has announced the appointment of a new Chief Executive.


Excel Home Videos is a division of Excel Productions Audio Visuals Pvt Ltd, India, and an exclusive Home Entertainment licensee to Twentieth Century Fox, MGM, Walt Disney Studios, HIT Entertainment, Aamir Khan Productions and Merchant Ivory Films.

The appointment is part of the expansion plans at Excel Productions Audio Visuals which also owns Excel Interactive (a leading gaming company and India licensee for Electronic Arts and Disney Interactive Studios), My Baby Excels (A recently launched premium toy brand) and Movies and More (Movie Retail). Says M.N Kapasi, Managing Director, Excel Group, “EXCEL HOME VIDEOS intents to extend its leadership position and further accelerate its growth into becoming a multi-platform for home entertainment services. Roby’s extensive experience in the entertainment industry makes him the right person for the top job.

Also in his successful stint with Excel Home Videos previously as head of marketing and acquisitions, he was responsible for one of the biggest launches (Lion King) in India on home video”.Roby Abraham has more then 11 years of work experience in the entertainment industry in senior management positions at Megastar Home Entertainment, Excel Productions Audio Visuals Pvt. Ltd, Thakral Home Entertainment and BMG Crescendo (India) Pvt. Ltd.. In his previous role as Marketing Manager of Megastar Home Entertainment, Dubai (the exclusive Home Entertainment licensee in the Middle East to Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, MGM Home Entertainment, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Sony BMG Music) Roby was responsible for managing revenue growth. Under him, the company has achieved phenomenal compounded growth of over 600% in 4 years.

Roby started his career in the Entertainment Industry way back in 1997 at BMG Crescendo (India) Pvt. Ltd. as the Manager of the Video Division, where he set up and successfully ran the Home Entertainment Department and remained instrumental in acquiring BBC World Videos for them. Says Roby Abraham, “ My focus will be to maintain the leadership position for all the partners and studios we work and represent. This will not just be in numbers that we achieve for them but also in retail presence and meeting their marketing objectives. In both cases, we are clear leaders. It’s one thing to say that one is a market leader because of the number of studios one represents the crucial part is to achieve each studio’s and partner’s objectives whilst keeping the company’s financial sanity. Most of our big competitors are still grappling in the dark here”.
