Anil Thomas joined McCann Erickson Bengaluru senior CD. In his new role, as in-charge of copy, he will be partnering Sujit Das, senior creative director (art) at the agency.
Das and Thomas will oversee the creative output for all the accounts at the branch, including TVS, Britannia, ITC, Titan, Titan Eye+, Tata Tea and Intel.
Having spent 13 years in the business, Thomas has experienced three dimensions of the ad world – client servicing, planning and creative. He has dedicated eight years to client servicing, followed by stints in planning and creative.
His career took off with client servicing at Madison Mumbai in 1996. In 1998, Mudra happened. After spending two years at Mudra, he moved to TBWA (then TBWA/Anthem). In 2001, he shifted base to Bengaluru and joined Lowe – he was account director on the Hindustan Lever account.
In 2007, he moved to O&M as creative director and worked on brands such as Titan, Sunfeast, Bingo, Canara Bank and Rohan Builders. His work was recognised at the Pattaya Adfest 2008. He had two finalists at Cannes and won two bronzes at the Goa AdFest 2008. His first ever print campaign was released in Archives and The Work; the creative was for Rohan Builders.
In 2003, for the first time, he tried his hand at planning. He was appointed senior brand planning director for Britannia and Hindustan Lever (particularly Kissan) at Lowe. During this time, he worked on a film for Britannia’s biscuit brand, 50-50.
