Yash Khanna Quits Star; Fourth Senior Executive To Leave In Two Months

Yash Khanna, EVP, Corporate Communication, Star India, is leaving the company, becoming the fourth senior executive to quit in two months at the Rupert Murdoch-owned broadcaster.

Khanna joined Star in 1992, as the second employee of the organisation in India, at a time when it was a satellite platform owned by Richard Li, son of Hong Kong billionaire Li Ka Shing. Murdoch first bought into the satellite firm in 1993. He was originally an ad sales person. Khanna said he was not joining another company.

Khanna’s exit comes even as there has been a fair amount of churn at Star’s senior management. Kaushal Dalal, EVP handling the ill-fated regional language GEC JV with Balaji Telefilms, left the organization recently. Friday was his last day at work. Ajay Vidyasagar, president, content and new media, quit in March, when Viren Popli, senior VP and head of mobile entertainment, also left the organization. Star has also been hiring at senior levels. It recently hired Airtel executive Sanjay Gupta as COO and Amita Maheshwari as EVP, HR. Maheshwari was head of HR at Metlife prior to joining Star.
