Vaasu Gavarasana has joined Dentsu Communications as the head of Bengaluru operations. Gavarasana will also spearhead the Toyota business for the Indian market.
The last agency Gavarasana had worked with was McCann Erickson, Singapore, where he was the senior regional business director. There, he managed the Johnson & Johnson APAC consumer brands.
Gavarasana has been in the advertising industry for two decades and has core expertise in marketing communications. He started his career in 1990 as an intern in Ogilvy Direct. In 1991, he moved to Lintas Bangalore (now Lowe Lintas). Three years later, he joined Communicate IT, a PR and marketing communications firm. In 1995, he moved to Lintas Mumbai (now Lowe Lintas) as a regional account manager and in 1998, he joined TBWA Mumbai.
In 2000, he joined DY&R 2.1 as a navigator and helped to set up the 2.1 division with Y&R Singapore. Then, in 2001, he joined McCann Erickson in Malaysia as a regional group account director. He moved to the Singapore branch in 2004 as a group account director. In 2007, he started Promeoh, an analytics and media platform for consumer sales promotion.
Over the years, he has worked for clients such as Unilever, Nestlé, MasterCard, Lufthansa, Boots Healthcare and Johnson & Johnson.
