Mediaedge:cia (MEC) has appointed T Gangadhar as Managing Director. He has taken charge from August 14. Interestingly, the company has not made any other announcement yet, but it is believed that Shubha George, MD of MEC India, would be seeing a change in her role, too, within the GroupM family. Gangadhar would be reporting to George.
He would be responsible for the continued business development of the agency, the delivery of communications planning through diversified services and build the MEC brand and team throughout the country. All office general managers and functional heads would report to Gangadhar.
Commenting on Gangadhar’s appointment, Joost Dop, CEO, MEC Asia Pacific, said, “The news today is about Gangs (Gangadhar) and we are very pleased with this appointment. MEC India is one of our fastest growing companies in APAC. In order to continue the momentum in India, I’m delighted that we have found a superb candidate in Gangs to further strengthen our management team. His ability to identify consumer insights and his flair for creative ideas, coupled with sound business acumen, would be a true asset to MEC India as the company continues to grow with new business and existing clients.”
Prior to MEC Gangadhar worked for Sony Entertainment Television India, where he was Senior Vice President – Marketing (MAX), and had spearheaded the highly visible ‘Cricket Weds Entertainment’, ‘Come Play’ and ‘Manoranjan ka Baap’ campaigns. In his role at Sony Entertainment Television, Gangadhar had also spearheaded the ‘Marketing Intent’ section of Sony’s successful Indian Premier League bid.
He had previously worked with a number of advertising agencies, including Lowe India and Mudra Communications. Gangadhar’s experience spans a varied client base such as Unilever India, Titan Industries, and Britannia India, and across categories as wide ranging as personal care, retail, beverages and other FMCGs.
