After nearly two years with Mediacom, a strategic planning and buying agency, Sanjay Sharma has put in his papers as General Manager, Mumbai. He has set up his own venture, named SNJ Media Services Pvt Ltd, that would operate under the brand name Synergy.
At Mediacom, Sharma has been reporting to MD Divya Gururaj, who has confirmed his movement. However, it was not known at the time of filing the report who would replace Sharma.
Sharma’s last working day at Mediacom was April 30, 2009, while his new venture Synergy commenced full-fledged operations from May 1, 2009. Synergy has already tied up with Deadline Advertising, 81yoe and Thinkwhynot to provide its clients integrated media solutions and jointly pitch for new businesses.
Commenting on his movement and his new venture, Sharma said, “Mediacom has taken a lot of initiative on the people front and I’ve had a very good experience with the company, which has grown from strength to strength. I am currently looking forward to making a difference in the media space. Synergy has a special focus on the emerging digital medium, where besides providing communication solutions on search, mobile and Internet display, it can e-enable its clients to distribute its products and services by providing store fronts and connecting to payment gateways. It provides its clients an integrated solution in the digital medium.”
Sharma had done his MBA from NMIMS in 1995. He began his career with Sista Saatchi and Saatchi, following a campus placement. From 1997-2000, he worked with Ambience Advertising. From January 2000 to May 2007, he worked with TME India with a year’s stint in between (from August 2003 to May 2004) in Starcom Bangkok. He quit TME India as Vice President in May 2007 to join Mediacom as General Manager, Mumbai.
