Sandesh launches Paper Bag Campaign

To give back to nature, Sandesh, a leading Gujarati newspaper, has initiated its “Paper – Bag Campaign” under its “Go-Green Initiative”.

The main objective behind Sandesh “Paper-Bag Campaign” is to create awareness about the harmful effects of plastic and the benefits of recycling and reusing paper to save the environment. In an innovative first, Sandesh is making paper bags from its own old and discarded paper.

After “Plant a tree” activity where 200,000 plant saplings were planted, Sandesh is now taking yet another major stride in its commitment to environment with its “paper bag campaign”. Starting June 20, 2012, under this initiative it is estimated that about 50,000 newspaper bags will be distributed to various stores like Levis, Westside, United Colors of Benetton, Status Quo, Nike and many other national and local corporate and retail outlets that are taking part in this “Sandesh Go Green Initiative”.

It is being launched through print & special content in newspaper.  Individuals, retail stores and NGO’s have come together to give an impetus to this activity- propogating shopping in environment friendly bags. This is a CSR initiative where the paper bags are made by NGO’s like Blind People Association & Approach, Ahmedabad.

The campaign has started getting maximum response from the people to save earth and nature from the harmful effects of plastic.

Parthiv Patel, Managing Director of Sandesh Group, says “As a leading newspaper it is our responsibility to educate and inform our readers. We received an overwhelming response in our tree planting initiative and now this campaign to promote paper bags from recycled paper further reaffirms our commitment to the cause of creating awareness about environment protection amongst our readers and people of Gujarat.”
