Bhaskar group has appointed Raja Mitra as senior general manager and business head for South India. He replaces SN Chaterjee. Mitra’s previous post was head of South India for ABP Group.
Mitra will be based in Bengaluru and report to Rajiv Jaitly, president, ad sales and marketing, DB Corp. He will be responsible for enhancing the Group’s ad sales revenue and growth in Southern India. He will also be responsible for completing composite deals with advertisers which include not only Hindi publication Dainik Bhaskar and Gujarati publication Divya Bhaskar but also the group’s radio venture MyFM and English daily, DNA.
Jaitly feels that Mitra will be an asset to the group, especially since the markets are shifting towards tier-II and tier-III cities, “South India presents great opportunities for the brand and we are confident that with Raja’s knowledge and expertise in the southern region, we will further strengthen our position.”
Mitra spoke on his move, “Bhaskar’s aggressive approach amongst the media groups in the recent years, which includes exploring new territories and venturing into other forms of media, other than publication brought me here. My primary responsibility will be to strengthen the group’s presence in South India.”
Mitra has a more than sixteen years’ experience in marketing with media and non-media companies. Prior to ABP (which he joined in 2004), Mitra was senior vice-president at Caltiger.com. He has also worked for Usha Martin Industries, ITW Signode India and Larsen & Toubro Ltd.
