Since yesterday’s promotion of Amitesh Rao to chief operating officer for its Sri Lanka operations, more promotions have taken place in Rediffusion – Y&R’s senior management.
Amitava Sinha, executive vice-president, Rediffusion – Y&R Kolkata has been promoted to group executive vice-president, eastern region. Sinha will head all the group’s operations in the eastern market, which include Rediffusion – Y&R, OAP – Touchpoint, TME, Wunderman, Rediffusion – Y&R PR and Showdiff. Sinha will report to Mahesh Chauhan, group chief executive officer, Rediffusion – Y&R.
Sinha has almost twenty-three years’ experience years in the industry. Having worked for HTA Kolkata (now JWT), McCann Erickson and what is now Bates 141, he joined Rediffusion – Y&R in 2003.
Shivaji Dasgupta, who is currently the business head, Rediffusion – Y&R, Kolkata will take over as head of the Kolkata branch. Dasgupta will report to Rohit Misra, who was elected as the president of Rediffusion – Y&R for its Indian and Sri Lankan operations over a month ago.
Dasgupta has spent twelve years in the industry, the last four of which have been with Rediffusion – Y&R. Before that, he has worked in agencies such as JWT Kolkata and Enterprise Nexus, Mumbai (now Bates 141).
Finally, Arvind Mohan, who is currently the chief strategy officer, will now step into the newly created position of group chief strategy officer. He will head strategy for all the group companies and will report to Chauhan. Mohan was recently inducted into the Global Planning Board of the Young & Rubicam (Y&R) network.
Chauhan commented on the restructuring, “Collaboration is a clear need for the industry, and particularly, the clients today. I see this restructuring yielding a far stronger and robust interaction between our Group companies, which will in turn result in a far superior product and offering for any client need.”
