Interestingly, Kurup and Flory met each other way back in 1995, when both of them were copy trainees at Mudra, Ahmedabad. Now, 13 years later, both of them are getting together to work in the agency started by Kurup.

Flory has been in the industry since 1995, and has worked in five cities in three countries. Besides Mudra, Flory has worked in agencies such as Wunderman in Singapore, Enterprise Nexus (now Bates 141) in Mumbai and Bangalore, Ogilvy Singapore, The Works, Sydney and Ogilvy, Sydney. Some of the brands he has worked for are IBM, Qantas, Becks Beer, Telstra mobiles, Gati and Coca- Cola among others.

Kurup says, “I have known Neil since college and it was just coincidence that we landed up in the same agency.”

Flory has also won a host of awards over the years for his work. His work has been recognized in festivals such as Cannes, Clio Awards, One Show Awards, Abby and AAAI Awards, among others.

Commenting on Flory’s work, Kurup says, “I think he has done good work on the Coke midget campaign and the Gati suicide campaign.”

In an official communiqué, Flory says, “Coming back to India was never part of my plans. But the opportunity to join CreativeLand Asia was something I couldn’t pass up.”

Flory speaks about his association with Kurup, “There was a time when Raj and I would go to a bar every Saturday and make plans to start an agency on paper napkins. An agency that truly believed in creativity and thinking, and didn’t just throw it around because it sounded cool.”

Flory’s creativity is not limited to advertising. He has designed and made fish tanks that were featured in the popular magazine, Inside Outside. He also designs T-shirts and jeans for a clothing label, besides writing children’s stories.

In an official communique, Vikram Gaikwad, executive creative director, CreativeLand Asia says, “Neil’s coming on board will only strengthen the team and the creative output at Creativeland. His international exposure will be of tremendous value.”
