Nandu Narasimhan returns home; Saatchi & Saatchi beefs up creative team

Nandu Narasimhan has returned to Saatchi and Saatchi after he had quit in February. He has come back as Executive Creative Director for the Delhi and Bengaluru branches after the agency acquired the Rs100 crore account for Videocon. In February he had quit as the Creative Director, North and had moved to Vyas Gianetti Creative (VGC) as National Creative Director.

While speaking about the appointment, Sanjib Dey, Executive Vice-President and Branch Head, Saatchi & Saatchi, Delhi, said, “We have constantly been in touch and I always wanted Narsimhan back. He has been a key person in strengthening the Delhi branch. Emotionally, he had never really left Saatchi & Saatchi and it was only right for him to be back. I was waiting for the right opportunity to get him back. I was pursuing him way before Videocon happened and when the latter finally happened, his coming in followed.”

With the Saatchi and Saatchi gaining new businesses, Jayant Matthew and Tuhin Sen have also been roped in as creative directors.

Nandu Narasimhan had begun his career as a copywriter in Tara Sinha Associates in 1989. a year later he later moved to Everest Brand Solutions, Delhi. He joined Lowe (the then Lintas) in 1993. Four years later, he moved to TBWA for a short stint. He later returned to Lowe again. Two years later he joined Contract, then a stint as Regional Creative Director in Grey Worldwide. In June 2006, he moved to Saatchi & Saatchi, which was his first stint at the agency.

He has 19 years of experience in advertising and has worked on brands such as Domino’s Pizza, Dabur, Nestle, Maruti, Hyundai, Xerox, Parker, LG, Samsung, ABN Amro credit cards, NIIT, GE Money, SBI credit cards, Sony Ericsson and Mother Dairy.

Jayant Matthew before joining Saatchi and Saatchi was Creative Director at Grey for four years. He began his career in 1995 with Contract, Chennai as a trainee. After which he relocated to the Delhi branch in 1999. The next year, he moved to Rediffusion DY&R as Creative Supervisor and joined McCann later the same year as Creative Supervisor and Group Head. In 2004, he joined Grey as Associate Creative Director and in two years he was promoted to the post of Creative Director.

Matthew has worked on brands such as Incredible India, Boomer and Double Mint (Wrigley’s), Samsung, Hyundai, Suzuki Motorcycles, India Today, SBI Cards, Virgin Atlantic, Adidas, MasterCard, Microsoft and Maruti 800.

Tuhin Sen, who returns to Saatchi & Saatchi for his second stint, started his career in advertising in 1994 at Mudra, Mumbai as a trainee. According to his three year contract, he had worked across the Mumbai, Hyderabad and Delhi (Interact Vision) branches of Mudra. In 1997, he moved to Saatchi & Saatchi as Creative Supervisor and has worked on the launch of Hyundai’s Santro and Accent, and Maruti Suzuki’s WagonR. He left as Creative Group Head in 2000 to join Leo Burnett as Associate Creative Director on the Coca-Cola account. He has also worked with a consulting organisation, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. In 2006, he served as a Strategy Consultant to UNESCO for their heritage passport programme. He returned to India in 2007 and joined Contract for a second stint as Consultant.
