Tejol Kolwalkar and Juhi Chaturvedi have been appointed creative directors at McCann Erickson Mumbai. They will report to Prasoon Joshi, chairperson, McCann World Group, India.
Chaturvedi and Kolwalkar will head a group working with 10 brands, which include some portions of the Marico business and the NDTV Imagine and Onida accounts. Currently, McCann Erickson Mumbai has four groups working on the various brands it handles.
This will be Kolwalkar’s second stint at McCann. He was with the agency in the same capacity till 2003, after which he moved on to pursue films. He has experience of about 14 years in the ad industry and has worked on brands such as Pears, Vaseline, Band Aid, Stayfree, Lifebuoy, Kodak, Tata Housing, Tata Motors, Sunlight, Asian Paints, Boots India, Emami, Times Music, MTV, ICICI and Bajaj Auto.
His work for the World Wildlife Fund has won A&M several golds as well as a CAG. He has also won a gold at the Abbys (Radio Campaign category) for ESPN. An avid photographer and tennis player, Kolwalkar’s foray as screenwriter and actor for the short films, Nine Minutes to Nirvana and Newsstand in Heaven, has won him accolades at the New York, Paris and Barcelona Short Film Festivals.
Chaturvedi, an art director by specialisation, has been in the ad business for about 12 years. She has spent almost a decade at O&M and also done a short stint at Lowe. Titan, Hutch, Fullerton, MTR Foods, Hindustan Unilever Ltd, Cadbury, Sprite, Asian Paints, KFC and UP Tourism are some of the brands on which she has worked.
A trained Kathak dancer with a One Show nomination to her name, Chaturvedi has also explored the world of script and dialogue writing in films and is awaiting the release of her feature film, Shoebite.
