Leo Burnett leads New York Festivals shortlists

The shortlists for the 2009 chapter of the New York Festivals (NYF) have been announced for five categories — Digital and Interactive, Outdoor, Print, Radio and TV/Cinema. India has a total of 12 shortlists in these categories, and chances of scoring a few metals are ripe.


Among the agencies, Leo Burnett leads the pack with eight shortlists so far. Euro RSCG, Out of the Box, Beehive Communications and Hungama Digital Media Entertainment have one shortlist each.

Leo Burnett’s shortlists are: ‘Tide Lipstick’ for Tide Detergent in the Home Products/Services sub-category of TV and Cinema; ‘Baby Rap’ for Lingo India Business in the Business Products/Services sub-category of Radio; ‘Kitchen’ for Bajaj Exhaust fans in the Home Appliances/Furnishings sub-category in Print; ‘Luxor Highlighters – Pink and Blue’ for Luxor Highlighter Pens in the Business Products/Services sub-category in Print; ‘Swimmer’ for Tiger Balm in the Healthcare Products sub-category in Print; ‘Kitchen/Babyroom/Loo’ for Bajaj Exhaust fans in the Home Appliances/Furnishings sub-category of Outdoor; as well as the ‘Kitchen’ creative winning a single shortlist in the same sub-category and category.

Euro RSCG’s shortlist is ‘Harpic Drain Unclog’ for Harpic Drain Opener, in the Home Products/Services sub-category in Print.

Out of the Box’s shortlist is ‘Let children learn to be imaginative’ for Mother’s Pride, in the Educational Institutions sub-category in Print.

Beehive Communications’ shortlist is ‘Sound Loop’ for Tourism Malaysia, in the Transportation/Travel/Tourism sub-category of Outdoor.

Hungama Digital Media Entertainment’s shortlist is ‘Ghajini – The Official Film Website’ for Hungama, in the Best Use of Medium/Website sub-category of Digital and Interactive.

The categories yet to be announced are: Art and Technique, Avant-Garde, Collateral, Design, Mixed Media Campaign and Student.

The 51st edition of the NYF has several Indian ad professionals in the jury. KV Sridhar, NCD, Leo Burnett is a jury member for Television and Cinema Advertising. Similarly, Agnello Dias, partner, TapRoots India is on the jury for Print; while Kamlesh Mehta, senior creative director, RMG Connect, is a jury member for the Digital and Interactive category. Saurabh Dasgupta, ECD, Innocean Worldwide, is on the jury panel for the Innovative Advertising category.

Other jury members include, Nirupam Sonu, VP, programming, Big 92.7 for the Radio category. This category also has Rana Barua, EVP and national head, programming and marketing, Radio City, and Nitesh Tiwari, ECD, Leo Burnett judging the entries.
