Clear Channel Communications India, an out-of-home company, has appointed Robin Carruthers as its new chief executive officer, with immediate effect. Carruthers was earlier chief operating officer.
On the other hand, Adille Sumariwalla, chairman and managing director, Clear Channel Communications India, has resigned with the intention of taking a break to pursue other interests.
Mark Thewlis, regional president, Clear Channel Outdoor – Asia Pacific, said, “Robin’s commitment to the success of our business and his outstanding industry knowledge made him an obvious choice for this role.”
On his new role, Carruthers said, “It is a privilege and an honour to represent the world’s largest outdoor company in India. The industry today is poised towards both exciting and challenging times ahead, and with the great team that I have to support me, I have no doubts that Clear Channel India will contribute to the overall growth of the industry.”
Carruthers joined Clear Channel in 2005 as national head of sales. He was later made chief operating officer. He started his 12 year career at Grey Worldwide (formerly known as Trikaya Grey) in 1996 as a media planner. He has worked in various outdoor specialist agencies, starting with Primesite and then moving onto MOMS, OAP and RMG David, before joining Clear Channel India.
