Afaqs: Hindustan Unilever Limited bagged maximum awards in different categories at the Product of the Year awards meant for FMCG industry. These awards help consumers identify genuine and innovative products.
The POY event celebrated its second year at the Taj Lands End, Mumbai on 6th March and was graced by eminent personalities from different fields. This year, 36 categories enjoyed the recognition. The results were based on face to face survey of 30, 000 Indian consumers across 36 cities.
Charulata Ravi Kumar, chief executive officer, Product of the Year, speak about the development of the event in its second year. She says, “The POY awards are meant for FMCGs globally. Also, many companies have participated for the first time this year. We have adhered to the global process while adding 10 more categories this year. It is very important for companies to join hands with advertising agencies to cover a larger consumer base reaching millions, which will be a distinct initiative in itself.”
Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) emerged has a strong winner by winning maximum awards – 10 in all – in different categories. LG Electronics India bagged four awards in various categories while L’Oreal India and Godrej Sara Lee fetched three awards each. Other award winners included Nestle India, ITC, Amante, Kansai, Nerolac paints, PepsiCo India, Whirlpool, Videocon industries, Hewlett – Packard, Frito Lay, HDFC standard life insurance and Ballarpur Industries.
