Exchange4Media: Raj Chengappa, Managing Editor, India Today, has replaced HK Dua as Editor-in-Chief of The Tribune Group of Publications.
Confirming his new post, Chengappa said, “The Tribune is a torchbearer. It is a highly regarded and balanced paper and I am honoured to be joining it. What The Tribune has always promoted is independence of journalism, which is both a challenge and an opportunity amid growing commercialisation everywhere.”
Chengappa was a part of India Today for 29 years where he was also taking care of the editing duties for the Indian edition of Scientific American and India Today Aspire. On his long association with the company he said, “The best part of working with India Today is the high degree of professionalism here. It is among the most exciting places to work in and there is constant debate on various issues. It is one of the finest publications.”
An award-winning veteran journalist with 33 years of experience, Chengappa has won prestigious Indian journalism awards like the Prem Bhatia Award for Political Analysis and Reporting in 1998 and the Statesman Award for Rural Reporting in 1987.
He is also the author of a best-selling book called ‘Weapons of Peace: The Secret Story of India’s Quest to be a Nuclear Power’ which talks about India’s nuclear weapons.
