Manoj Sharma has been appointed as the Group Business Head of India TV. Sharma was involved in the restructure at India TV in November 2009. Here at India TV, he will be incharge of the business expansion of all group companies, including Independent News, India TV Interactive, Independent Media, Studio Brahma and India TV Mission.
Before he joined India TV, Sharma had a stint with India Today and CNBC-TV18 as well. He joined India Today in 1990 and headed the launch of a lot of new products which include ‘Cosmopolitan’ and ‘Today’, and the afternoon newspaper. Out of his 20 years of work experience Sharma has put in 18 good years with the India Today Group.
Commenting about his decision to switch from print to electronic media, Sharma said, “The electronic media is a very dynamic and challenging medium. I had been through a great learning experience at CNBC-TV18 a few years back. I had worked with the 360 degree models as well. And now, using the combination of experience in print and electronic media, I would like to take India TV to the next level.”
Speaking about his plans for 2010 as the Group Business Head, Sharma said, “India TV will undergo expansion projects not only in terms of making it a network of channels, but also in a web expansion and more focus on events as well.” India TV is also planning to launch a media school. Sharma would also be working more on 360 degree solutions at India TV.
“I am very excited to work with a dynamic form of media and am looking forward to contributing to the growth of India TV”, he added.
