Virgin’s New Plan

Virgin mobile has recently rolled out a hilarious TVC with a view to promote its lifetime validity plan. This particular plan allows users to buy the SUK (starter user kit) just for Rs 49.

The call charges for the new plan are 15 paise/minute for Virgin Mobile to Virgin Mobile; 30 paise /minute for local calls to other networks and 50 paise/minute for STD calls across all networks. This plan also enables Virgin Mobile users to send local SMS’s for 50 paise per SMS and national SMS for Re.1/- per SMS.

The TVC’s titled ‘Changing room’ and ‘Elevator’, talk about the times when you get stuck in awkward situations and you need to give detailed explanations to get yourself out of it, at such times you need to have talk time that doesn’t burn a hole in your pocket, whether the conversation lasts for seconds or for minutes.

According to Sandeep Pathak, CEO, Bates 141, “In the never-ending world of price wars, Virgin Mobile’s offering is most differentiated and the campaign aims to communicate just that. The communication highlights the flexibility of Virgin’s talk plan and pushes the creative idea that long conversations should not be cut short just due to one’s talk plan,”. He added, “Further, while most other telecom operators have headlined ‘dropping of rates’ in their campaigns, we have moved beyond transactional and denominational nature of telecom advertising and have shown how Virgin’s plan is relevant to a common man through real-life, albeit tongue-in-cheek, examples.”
