Farewell Ibrahim!

Vehrnon Ibrahim, vice-president, programming, Radio One has resigned from the organisation. His association with Radio One began in March 2008 and he will be making his exit at the end of the month.

Confirming the news Vineet Singh Hukmani, chief executive officer, Radio One said, “In the two years that he has been with Radio One, Vehrnon has brought a lot of science and system to programming, making it far more efficient.”

While Ibrahim was with Radio One, the organisation implemented digital music testing, reviewing music on a weekly and fortnightly basis. Maximum music fataafat, which was the new positioning for the station was also formulated this year.

Speaking about his resignation Ibrahim said, “Radio One has a talented team and is an extremely forward moving company. I enjoyed my stint there but felt the need for a newer challenge.”

The grapevine has it that Ibrahim next step is to join Radio Today Broadcasting’s Meow FM as the national programming head.

Ibrahim had a stint with Red FM, where he was national programming director before he joined Radio One. His association with Red FM began in 2001 and he spent seven good years at the company. He was responsible for Red FM reach various milestones since its launch.

According to Hukmani there will be no immediate replacements to take over Ibrahim’s post and that the station plans to follow the decentralized route, where every city’s programming heads would be reporting to Hukmani.
