Magma publications all set to come up with its first ever weekly film magazine

Good news for the film lovers as the publishers of Stardust are rolling out their first weekly, a film magazine called Star Week, from Friday (August 28).

The cover price of this weekly will be Rs.25 and this weekly magazine is been positioned as the snappy and newsy film read. With a tagline of’ Snappy showbiz every Friday, the magazine will have 64 pages of editorial content.

Talking about the new magazine, Ashwin Varde, editorial director, Magna Publication said, “Star Week will be the first weekly of its kind. It will be a quick glance through the happenings in the industry in the span of one week. The idea for the style magazine was conceived from the fact that today; people don’t have time to read long stories.”

This weekly magazine is targeted at the younger generation and those who are constantly on the move. The magazine will be headed by Varde.

Both the marketing and editorial teams of the magazine will be different from that of Stardust. Its editorial team will comprise around 12-14 people, including the editorial contributors from the film industry.

Varde speaking on whether the content of Star Week could coincide with that of Stardust as both of them are film-based magazine said, “The content of Star Week will be radically different from that of Stardust. Stardust is more tuned towards leisure reading, whereas this new offering will be more newsy, topical and snappy.”

He further added that with this launch, the publication will add a new set of advertisers, which will also include those associated with films. The magazine will hit the stands every Friday, as it is regarded as a special day for the film industry.
 
The content mix of the weekly will include film fashion, film previews, quick interviews and trade analysis. Varde said, “Anything and everything that happens in the film industry will be there”.
