Close on the heels of news about Nabendu Bhattacharyya quitting Ogilvy Action, the out-of-home business unit, to launch his own venture, comes the news of the appointment of Rajesh Badani as country head, Ogilvy Landscapes.
Ogilvy Landscapes was launched in 1993, with the aim of gaining specialization in the field of outdoor advertising. Over the years, it has grown into the single largest outdoor specialist outfit in the country, planning and buying for some of the industry’s biggest clients.
Nabendu Bhattacharyya, the outgoing president, Ogilvy Action said, “Yes, it is true. Badani will be taking over the OOH unit at the end of August.” On his end, Badani confirms the development as well.
Badani’s last stint was with RK Swamy BBDO, where he was VP, Hansa Outdoor. His role was managing P&L responsibilities and leading a team of 30 OOH professionals across six offices in India.
Interestingly, this is his second stint at Ogilvy. Earlier, he has worked as account manager with Ogilvy (erstwhile Ogilvy & Mather) between January 1999 and September 2001.
Badani has close to a decade of experience in the OOH area. He was regional head at Portland India Outdoor between October 2001 and March 2008. In April of the same year, he joined Big Street as GM, spending nine months at the agency, managing P&L responsibilities of the Western region.
