Times Global Broadcasting Co Ltd (TGBCL), the broadcasting arm of BCCL, has christened its English business news channel ET Now. The name is akin to its English news channel Times Now, which was launched in 2006.
The aim of ET Now is to bring alive the Economic Times newspaper, the most widely read business publication the country. on viewers’ television sets. The channel was to be launched late last year, but due the global meltdown the launch has been delayed. The channel will make an entry by April this year.
ET Now will be positioned as the voice of the India Inc. The channel hopes to convey the values of the Economic Times and will focus on speed and accuracy in the business domain.
In the presence of 400 top-flight CEOs and policy makers of corporate India, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh launched the ET Now logo at the Economic Times Awards for Corporate Excellence in Mumbai last week.
Rahul Joshi will lead the editorial of the ET brand in print, television and online while Neeti Chopra is the marketing head for the brand across the three platforms i.e. a convergence model.
To execute this setup, an ‘enabling structure’ has been put in place. The editorial team for ET Now is in place, and is busy with mock recordings and preparing for news bulletins from its Mumbai office.
